Mountain Bike Holiday in the Spanish Pyrenees. The best trails in Spain at this time of year.

Overview
The riding across the South of the Pyrenees is something special. It is generally dry and a bit loose, however less so than the south of Spain. The trails are old walking paths linking ancient villages, long since deserted. Our tour will take in the best singletrack in these areas. Singletrack that local mountain bikers have been kind enough to share with me. We will delve deep into some undiscovered mountain biking locations which boast stunning scenery and unbelievable biking. We will also ride the “Zona Zero” mountain bike park in Ainsa. This is an area that friends have developed and offers some stunning mountain bike trails. Of course we will ride some trails there that aren’t common knowledge! There will be van uplift to help most mornings, although this will depend on the trails we choose to ride. We will ride high on the Pyrenees and deep into the gorges which are scattered across the area, riding miles and miles of technical singletrack which is a kind of cross between the best Alpine descents and the south of Spain. Put simply this is some of the best mountain biking anywhere.

Dates
This holiday will run through October and November. At this time of year the weather should be dry and the days will be cool, perfect for mountain biking. Earlier in the year the temperatures are too hot and later there is more chance of bad weather. The other advantage of running this holiday in October and November is the autumn colours, which are spectacular, especially when the backdrop is the big Pyrenees mountains all covered with snow.

This tour starts and finishes in either Bilbao or, preferably, Biarritz airport. Please contact us for travel details.

Suitability (level)
The trails on this tour are going to be advanced, they are not as extreme as some of the trails in the Basque Country but expect unrelenting technical singletrack, rocky switchbacks and some exposure. The climbing will be challenging in places, although we will use some van uplift, and expect to be pushing your bike for some sections. The sort of rider who will get the most from this tour will be very comfortable on any of the trail centre trails in the UK and maybe have visited the Alps and enjoyed some of the more technical riding there. A good level of fitness is also required.

Accommodation
The accommodation will be a mixture of high quality local bed and breakfasts, upmarket hostals and stunning, “rider owned” apartments. This holiday will be more about the mountain biking than the accommodation so we will choose where we stay to keep us closest to the very best trails.

Cost
The cost for this holiday is €900. We need a minimum of 4 people to run this holiday, however if you are a smaller group please get in touch and we will try to put you together with another suitable group. Included in this cost are transfers, accommodation, breakfast and guiding. Not included are dinners and lunches.
