San Sebastian

Only twenty minutes into Spain from our base, San Sebastian is well worth a visit. A beautiful city reminiscent of Paris in miniature with wide tree lined boulevards and tight latin quarter. Like Paris gastronomy in San Sebastian is taken seriously with the highest ratio of Michelin stars to population in the world, according to some it is the best place to eat in Spain. Unlike Paris, San Sebastian benefits from three excellent beaches, lined with cliffs on either side and the Santa Clara island that acts as a fourth beach for those willing to take a short ferry. Bilbao

Only an hour and ten minute’s drive, further along the Spanish coast, from our base Bilbao is one of our transfer cities but Bilbao has much more to offer than just an Airport. The capital of the Basque country, Bilbao is larger and more industrial than San Sebastian, a Glasgow to San Sebastian’s Edinburgh. Bilbao is a wealthy town with excellent shopping and nightlife and the beach a metro ride away. By far the most famous attraction in Bilbao is the Guggenheim museum.

Biarritz

At around half an hour along the coast into France is Biarritz, our preferred transfer airport. The short trip over to France is well worth it during the week too. Biarritz is still a favourite destination of Europe elite, which is reflected in the shopping and exclusive hotels and spas. This creates an intriguing mix of surf bums and celebs.

Pamplona

Dating back to Roman times Pamplona is the capital of the Navarra province situated just under an hour from our base. One of Europe’s greenest cities, with 100 million square metres of green, it is packed full of parks, Roman remains and interesting architecture. Pamplona is especially worth visiting at the beginning of July when the city hosts hunderds of thousands of revellers for the San Fermin festival with the running of the bulls, this surely has to be one of the busiest and craziest fiestas in Spain!
