Happy New Year from BasqueMTB We wanted to wish everyone the very best for 2012. We hope that it holds lots of good stuff, not least biking, for everyone. Hogmanay is also a good time to take stock of the previous year and plan for the new year. At BasqueMTB we have been doing exactly that. 2011 was a great year for us, it was the first year that we were properly busy and it was important to us that everything went well and we enjoyed it. Some of you will have played a part and for that we thank you sincerely. We have been very lucky to spend our time with so many nice and interesting people since we opened. Some things will change for 2012 and other things will stay the same. Read on to see what we are planning. You can also sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.
[singlepic id=2547 w=200px float=”left”] New Guide for 2012 As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we have a new guide for 2012. Tom is a medical student from Bristol who will be joining us from July to September. We are still going to run with small groups, a maximum of 7 or 8 people unless specifically asked to cater for a larger single group. Tom is going to help us with two things. Firstly we will split the group at times during the week, meaning we can offer harder, easier, longer and shorter options. Secondly, we will offer more uplift on some days to help with tired legs. To read more about Tom click here. If you would like to come with a larger group and take advantage of more uplift then please get in touch to discuss possible dates.
[singlepic id=2192 w=200px float=”left”] More Skills Weeks Last year’s skills week with Great Rock was a big success. We put on another week for 2012, (14th-21st July) which sold out in the first few weeks. Rather than increase the group size we will run another week from the 21st – 28th of July to cater for demand. I guess this will sell out quickly in January so if you are interested then get in touch. For more details on our skills weeks click here. We are also considering running a skills week in the South Pyrenees. If there is any interest then let us know.
[singlepic id=2411 w=200px float=”left”] Tours / Trips for 2012 In addition to our holidays based just outside San Sebastian, on the Basque coast, we are offering a couple of tours this year. The first tour we are offering is the Basque Coast tour. This tour takes us from Hondarribia, on the border of Spain and France, down the coast to Bilbao. We stick as close to the coast as possible and it must be one of the most scenic parts of the world. The second tour we will offer is our tour of the South Pyrenees. Doug has spend a lot of time down there, riding with the locals and finding trails, accommodation and places to eat. The riding is epic.  For more details of our tours click here.
[singlepic id=2415 w=200px float=”left”] New Website For 2012 we have revamped our website. Hopefully the newer website is easier to navigate and has more information. Feedback on the website is welcome. Click here to see our new website. (If you don’t see the new version or it appears corrupted then it could be due to your cache. Maybe pressing Control+F5 will fix it).
So, again, a Happy New Year to everyone and hopefully we will see some of you in 2012. As always the start of the year will be taken up with trail finding and you can keep up to date with everything over on Twitter and our Facebook group. In the meantime we wish everyone a healthy, happy and bikey new year. All the best and thanks to everyone,Doug and Amaia.
