I understand that mountain biking is dangerous and includes substantial obstacles which can be physically testing. I accept that there is a risk of injury and death when undertaking these activities.

During basqueMTB trips we may ride a mixture of natural trails, handbuilt trails and bike park trails. These trails may include roots, rocks, steep terrain, loose surfaces, berms, rollers, jumps, drops and other technical trail features. I understand that not every obstacle, jump or drop will necessarily be pointed out or advised by the guide. I am responsible for reading the trail, making my own decisions on what to ride or not ride, and riding within my own abilities at all times.

I agree to follow all reasonable instructions and safety decisions made by the guide. I understand that the guide does not assess every participant’s skill level, competency or the suitability of every trail feature for every rider, and that I remain responsible for my own decisions and riding.

I confirm that I will wear a helmet at all times while riding. A helmet meeting EN1078 as a minimum standard, and less than three years old, is compulsory. Knee pads, elbow pads and gloves are also compulsory. I confirm that I will use a suitable, well-maintained bike and appropriate equipment for the riding involved.

I agree to check my bike and equipment at the start of each day, before each run and after any crash. If I have any doubt about the condition of my bike or equipment, I will stop riding immediately and speak to the guide.

I understand that hire bikes are serviced before each trip, but components can still loosen, wear or break during a week of riding. I accept responsibility for the hire bike during my stay and for making sure it is safe to ride after every uplift. If I am unsure I understand that it is my responsibility to ask the guide for assistance.

I agree to give way to all other trail users and to ride respectfully and responsibly at all times. Anyone who is intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, riding dangerously, behaving abusively or acting in an anti-social way may be refused participation or removed from the trip.

I understand that basqueMTB cannot be responsible for damage to my own bike or equipment during the trip, including damage that may occur in transit or on uplift trailers. I understand that insurance is strongly recommended at all times and that I am responsible for arranging suitable cover for riding, accident, rescue, medical costs and damage or loss to my own equipment.

In the event of an accident, or loss of or damage to my personal effects, I acknowledge that basqueMTB, its employees, officers, officials, agents, sponsors and associated parties will not be liable for any direct or indirect loss, damage or injury arising from or in connection with the activities, except for death or personal injury caused by basqueMTB’s negligence or where liability cannot be excluded by law.

I understand that while guidance, correct equipment and personal discipline may reduce the risk, the risk of serious injury, permanent disability or death still exists. I knowingly and freely assume these known and unknown risks and accept full responsibility for my participation and for having and using appropriate safety equipment. I also understand that basqueMTB is not responsible for another participant’s failure to comply with these rules, except where caused by basqueMTB’s negligence.

If I am pregnant, I understand that mountain biking carries inherent risks and I should consult my midwife or doctor before riding.

I give permission for medical assistance to be administered to me, and to any minors for whom I am completing this declaration, in the case of an accident or emergency.
