Non-Bike

Basque MTB organises bachelor / stag parties and other activities in San Sebastian.

Basque MTB is located just outside San Sebastian, in Spain, a perfect location to offer great holidays for those who, for some strange reason, don’t want to throw themselves down mountains all day! While your loved ones risk life and limb mountain biking, you can choose lots of alternative holiday activities, from relaxing on the beach, shopping and being pampered with spa treatments to alternative thrills such as surfing. If you would like to, you can surf in Spain in the morning, have a guided tour of a local vineyard in the afternoon, and then dine in France in the evening. Basque MTB also organise stag parties or bachelor parties in San Sebastian, with activities during the day to prepare you for the great nightlife that the Basque region of Spain offers. [wptabs mode=”horizontal”] [wptabtitle] Stag Parties[/wptabtitle] [wptabcontent] San Sebastian, in the north of Spain, is a fantastic place for a stag, or bachelor, party. The old town of San Sebastian is a tightly packed grid of streets, composed almost entirely of bars. The Basque nightlife is a fantastic mixture of Spanish and Basque culture with friendly people, reasonably priced drinks and excellent food. The coastline around San Sebastian is perfect for all manner of activities should you wish to do something during the day and we can help organise that. Or why not allow us to organise something less active like a wine tasting tour in the local Txakoli vineyards. Txakoli is a dry white wine unique to this part of Spain and is grown along the Basque coast, within sight of the sea. We are happy to recommend and book restaurants for your stag party. San Sebastian can offer the finest dining in Spain, or traditional Basque sidrerias where you can be a bit more rowdy. Whatever you want for a stag (bachelor) party, San Sebastian is bound to have it. We can organise accommodation, airport transfers and everything else so that you can just concentrate on having a good time during your stag party. Alternatively we can leave you to organise your trip and we can just offer some advice and organise the activities for you. Either way just get in touch and we can discuss it further.

Ideas for your Stag Party in San Sebastian.

Basque MTB offers totally tailored stag parties, however here are some activity ideas along with some prices to give you some ideas to get started:

Mountain Biking Day Trips: €60 per person.

Basque MTB offer great days mountain bike tours on the coast near San Sebastian. For stag parties we use our van to climb to the start of the trails, meaning the rest of the day mountain biking had twice as much downhill as uphill. We finish the day at a bar where you can prepare for the rest of your stag party by having some food and drinks. Included in this price is all equipment hire, pick-up and drop-off in San Sebastian, photos and guiding. Lunch isn’t included.

Surfing in San Sebastian: €25-30 per person

Surfing is a great activity for a stag party, the water and mild exercise really clears the head after a big night out! Basque MTB ensure you get an English speaking surf instructor for around two hours, changing facilities, surf board hire and all equipment is included.

Airport Transfers: Price depends on numbers so please get in touch.

Basque MTB can organise airport transfers in a personal bus. For stag parties this works well because you get taken directly to your accommodation and the price works out around the same as getting the public airport transfer bus for big groups.

Accommodation Suitable for Stag Parties: Various options, please get in touch.

San Sebastian offers many different accommodation options for your stag party. Please get in touch to discuss the options.

Sidreria Visits: Around €25 per person

Sidrerias hold a special place in Basque tradition. This is where the Basque cider is made and they offer an evening meal with all the cider you want. We can book a table for you and also organise transport to the sidreria and back to make it easier for your stag party.

Pintxos Tours: Around €60 per person including 7 tapas and drinks

Pintxos is what San Sebastian really does well. Like Spanish tapas but better, the bars in the old town of San Sebastian are lined with pintxos. Basque MTB Pintxo tours take you round the very best bars and make sure you get the best Pintxos in each bar. We order the food and drinks for you and take them to you, meaning you can enjoy your stag party without having the hassle of queuing for food. With Basque MTB you can surf in the evening and mountain bike in the morning

The Basque coast is one of the best places in the world for surfing. Mundaka, with its hollow left break, is just along the coast and is widely regarded as one of the top ten surfing spots in the world. Hendaye beach, just a 5 minutes boat trip from our base in Spain, offers a very relaxed sandy beach break, perfect for learners. There are hundreds of surf spots all along the Basque coast, from San Sebastian to Bilbao, and we can help organise surfing trips for you. Often holiday makers choose to mountain bike until the late afternoon, leaving them free to surf in the evening. We can organise board hire and lessons for anyone who is keen to give it a try in the evenings or on a day away from the bike. Alternatively if one of your group would rather not mountain bike we can organise a course of surf lessons during their holiday. If you are keen to try surfing in the Basque country then please get in touch. [/wptabcontent] [wptabtitle]Basque Festivals[/wptabtitle] [wptabcontent]

Spain knows how to do fiestas. The Basque Country knows better!

All over Spain local areas have regular festivals and the Basque country is no different. San Sebastian has Europe’s longest continually running Jazz festival and Pamplona hosts the world famous running of the bulls at their San Fermin festival. San Fermin – Pamplona – 2nd week of July The biggest celebration of a local saint in Spain San Fermin is famous for the running of the bulls but it’s easy enough to go without seeing a single bull as they do the run early in the morning. Hundreds of thousands of people descend on Pamplona for a full on but good natured party. Apparently it’s possible to find a party any time of the day or night all week. Jazzaldia festival – San Sebastian – 4th week of July Europe’s longest continuously running Jazz festival, nice! Hondarribia blues festival 17th – 20th of July. Great bands playing right on the sea side with lots of people, food and drinks. Did I mention that it’s all free? Semana Grande – San Sebastian – Mid-August For its “Big Week”, San Sebastian literally erupts, with an amazing nightly firework display lighting up the bay. Clásica San Sebastián Start of August San Sebastian’s big cycling race which is normally well attended by the Tour de France riders. Jaizkibel Hill Climb Time to be Determined A car race up and over Jaizkibel. There is normally a great turn out of WRC cars, highly tuned Japonese cars and various other exotica. They race up the switchbacked road to the highest point. We will try to take this in as part of our normal Jaizkibel bike ride for those that are interested. Fiesta of Hondarribia Start of September A slightly more relaxing fiesta which only lasts for a couple of days. One of my favourite fiestas because of it’s relaxed atmosphere. Fiesta of Irun Middle of June This is my favourite fiesta. It is full of life and energy and lasts for over a week. The streets are full of dancing and singing but the atmoshphere is so friendly and all you will see is smiling faces. Fiesta of Pasajaes Start of August A fiesta in a stunning local fishing village. If you haven´t seen these small towns fiestas you cannot believe the intensity or the energy of these parties. For up to a week the streets are packed with people eating, drinking, dancing and generally being merry. There are parades, boat races, competitions and most importantly eating through the day and the pubs are open most of the night and the fireworks and singing carry through the warm summer air![/wptabcontent] [wptabtitle] Pampering[/wptabtitle] [wptabcontent]

After a hard day mountain biking why not relax in a Spa

Whether you’ve been out on the trails all day and now every muscle and joint aches, or you just fancy pampering yourself the Basque country has lots of options for rejuvenating your mind, your body and your soul! Here are a couple of our favourites but there are plenty of other options if you would like something specific. Thalassotherapy From the Greek word for sea this treatment involves mud baths, seaweed wraps, algae wraps and massages with warm sea water. It’s all designed to boost your circulation, cleanse your skin and tone your muscles and the locals swear by it. Being right on the Atlantic coast both San Sebastian and Biarritz offer fantastic options for those of you who fancy trying this out for yourselves and Amaia can give you all the advice you need. Prices are around €20 for a couple of hours. La Perla Spa This world famous spa sits right on the beach at San Sebastian and offers a bewildering array of treatments from aromatherapy to something called a Zen bath. There are even underwater excercise bikes if you feel you haven’t done enough! You can get it all and Amaia can organise and book it for you. We will be delighted to organise a day trip to a spa or even just a visit in the evening to get you ready for another day of hard fun in the mountains or on the beach.[/wptabcontent] [wptabtitle] Other Activities[/wptabtitle] [wptabcontent]

We can offer lots of activities if you don’t fancy mountain biking on your holiday

Wine Tours Now we’re talking! The rioja region is about an hour and a half away and the wine is fantastic. A day out wine tasting is a great way to see some different scenery and taste some fantastic wines as well. I should point out that you don’t have to spit it back out either! The next day we can ride away your hangover with some of our refreshing coastal singletrack! We can also offer a day’s mountain biking, close to the wineyards, followed with a wine tasting session. Speak to us before your holiday and we would be delighted to organise this for you. Climbing Climbing has a long tradition in the Basque Country and the area has produced some of the best climbers in the world. The sea cliffs, Pyrenees and Basque mountains offer many places to climb, catering for a wide range of abilities. Near to our base, there is a good bolted limestone single pitch crag and also some fantastic bouldering. We can point you in the right direction for these climbs but you would have to bring the climbing gear with you. Stand Up Paddling SUP is growing quickly in popularity. Take a tour around San Sebastian’s bays on a board and try to catch the surf back into the beach. Paintball There are a couple of paintball sites around here so if you fancy donning your camoflage gear and taking your aggression out on something other than the trail we’ll be happy to oranise this for you.[/wptabcontent] [/wptabs]
