The Backcountry Pyrenees has long been one of our favourite trips, now we have updated it to include Tremp, La Pobla de Segur, Benasque, Ainsa and Guara. We run it in Spring when the Pyrenees are simply spectacular. Usually you have the high mountains in the background, covered with snow, and the lower mountains are green and covered with flowers. It really is spectacular. And riding conditions are optimum too, before the heat of summer bakes the trails hard. And then you have the locations on this trip, little towns, tucked in the foothills of the Pyrenees, and the highlight for everyone is Guara where you feel like time has stopped for you to enjoy riding your bike in one of Europe’s great wildernesses. Of course, the most important thing is the trails, and the Backcountry Pyrenees has those in spades! Lots of slick-rock trails, big rocky flow trails, perfect berms, endless descents and huge views.
Just because as new areas appear we like to be always riding the latest and greatest trails. In fact we wanted to change this last year, to share two new locations, however it was not possible because we had bookings so far in advance.
This year we have introduced two new riding spots. Tremp, and La Pobla de Segur. We have been riding and scouting here for a couple of years, finding the best trails and just plain enjoying ourselves. The two areas are close to each other and offer quite similar riding. Here there are a real mixture of trails, from flow trails with berms and jumps, to rocky trails with huge slick-rock sections. From there we pass through the southern part of the Benasque Valley, racking up some big vertical before we pass through Ainsa for a day. Then it is on to Guara, which has always been the favourite for most riders on this trip, where the trails are rocky and challenging and flowing and fun all at the same time!
Some of the incredible feedback we received from our guests these two weeks. Thanks a lot guys!
We are releasing our 2025 Backcountry Pyrenees trips already. This is a change to how we used to operate, when we released our holidays at the end of the year. What we will do is release our Backcountry Pyrenees mountain bike holidays now, at the 2024 prices. Around August we will update the prices for 2025. If you want to reserve your place at 2024 prices then just get in touch.
Also we want to propose a new trip for November 2024 and also March 2025. This will be a two center mountain bike trip, fully shuttled, based in Tremp and Ainsa. Currently, in our opinion, Tremp and La Pobla de Segur don’t have enough riding for a week, however when we combine it with Ainsa we have the option of an amazing week of riding with amazing biking weather in November and March. It will take some time to get this up on the website, however if you are interested then just get in touch.
Get your early bird 2025 Backcountry Pyrenees trip now.
Or register interest for the Tremp vs Ainsa Super Trip in November.
