Our Super Tremp mountain bike holiday is a a twin center trip taking in the best of the Zona Zero (Ainsa) and Tremp areas of the Pyrenees. These two areas are close together but offer a totally different riding experience. Tremp is all hand-built flow where Ainsa is more natural. The combination is enticing and riding three days in each area lets us maximise our shuttles to give the maximum fun.

TREMP

TREMP

Three days mountain biking in Tremp lets us take in all the best trails with maximum uplift. We will start with the flowiest classics, build up through the rock slabs and finish off with some long, steep descents further up the valley.

Ainsa Mountain Bike Tour

AINSA

Followed by three days of enduro riding in Ainsa, an area which you will know if you have done many of our trips. Riding here for three days lets us maximise the amount of uplift and ride the classic trails.

The Biking

The Biking in Tremp

Just a couple of valleys over from Ainsa, in Cataluña, there is another mountain biking paradise called Tremp. Here the trails are very different from Ainsa, with lots of hand built flow trails and vast slabs of rock which give a unique character. The climate is similar to Ainsa, making it a perfect destination for early Spring and late Autumn, when the trails are running perfectly and the temperatures are warm but not too hot. Tremp mountain biking means lots of shuttle accessed descents, making it a perfect place to get some serious vertical.

The Biking in Ainsa

The mountain biking in Ainsa offers and incredible variety of rocky, but flowing, trails. This is an ancient trail system, built to support transport between old villages, many of which have now been abandoned. One highlight is the famous grey earth ridges which offer some really unique mountain biking.

The trails on this trip suit good intermediate to expert riders with good fitness.

    Highlights

  • The famous grey earth ridges.
  • The amazing rock slabs around La Poblano.
  • Trails starting in ancient castles and finishing in deep canyons.

What Bike Do I Need?

A capable trail bike with 140mm of travel or more is the minimum. The guides will be riding 150mm/160mm Enduro bikes. eMTB’s are also a lot of fun on this trip.

Insurance

It is essential that you organise your own insurance to cover yourselves and your personal belongings. This should specifically cover mountain biking. We need you to pass us a copy of the insurance for all members of your group. No insurance means no ride.

We recommend that your insurance should cover:

  • Trip cancellation. We won’t cancel, but you might have to due to injury etc.
  • Your bike for theft and damage.
  • Your luggage.
  • Emergency medical cover.
  • Rescue, including helicopter.
  • Getting you back home if needed. This is a big one, if you have a broken leg for example you might not be allowed on a commercial flight.
  • We will be riding marked trails, with a guide, the Pyrenees trips get up to almost 3000m and the Basque Coast 2000m.

We have a deal with Yellow Jersey, using the code BASQUE10 for UK residents.

For non-UK residents our guests say good things about World Nomads World Nomads.

FAQ´s
  • What weather can I expect?
    • The weather in Ainsa and Tremp is great for spring and autumn with lovely sunny days. This is a very dry part of Spain with around 330 days of sunshine a year. Temperatures in autumn and spring should be around 10-20degC.
  • I’m vegetarian / vegan / pescatarian.
    • If you eat fish it is easy. If you are vegetarian it needs a bit more management just to make sure we coordinate menus to get some variety. If you are vegan there are going to be some limitations for you but we can totally do it. Please let us know when you book.
  • What are the minimum numbers, and can I book as an individual?
    • No problems to book as an individual. We don’t have minimum numbers to confirm trips. We will run a trip even if it is just you… it will be fun!
  • How much riding is there?
    • We don’t limit the riding. We aim to be finished by 6pm, but sometimes offer more riding to those who want it. There are multiple shuttles each day and again we are all looking to ride as much as possible, we aren’t counting the uplifts.
  • Can I Do A Shorter Trip?
    • Sometimes it is possible, however you would need to organise your own transfers.
  • What Are The Group Sizes?
    • We typically run with 12-14 guests, 2 guides, 2 vans and 2 drivers.
  • What is the difference between the Tremp vs Ainsa and the Ainsa Enduro?
    • There is less climbing in the Tremp vs Ainsa trip, and more descending. The Ainsa Enduro has more pedalling, usually on single tracks. Obviously one visits Tremp and the other stays in Ainsa.
