Super Tremp Mountain Bike Tour

AINSA VS TREMP MOUNTAIN BIKE HOLIDAY

RIDE THE BEST TRAILS IN TREMP AND AINSA

In early spring and late autumn the Pre-Pyrenees mountains offer some amazing riding. Ainsa vs Tremp mountain bike holiday mixes the best trails in Tremp and Ainsa (Zona Zero) giving the perfect base for riding. Spending three days in each of these incredible Pyrenees riding zones allows us to focus on the best shuttle-accessed trails, giving more descending than ever.

If you want to ride the famous Zona Zero trails, and find the unbelievable rocky flow that is Tremp then this is the trip for you. The Ainsa vs Tremp mountain bike tour will run in March and November, when the trails are warm and dry, giving an escape from winter in much of the rest of Europe.

“You guys are masters at the art of mountain biking holidays. There’s a reason why I’ve come back so many times.”

Darren (One of our first guests to experience Tremp)

Three days mountain biking in Tremp lets us take in all the best trails with maximum uplift. We will start with the flowiest classics, build up through the rock slabs and finish off with some long, steep descents further up the valley.

Followed by three days of enduro riding in Ainsa, an area which you will know if you have done many of our trips. Riding here for three days lets us maximise the amount of uplift and ride the classic trails.

Ainsa and Tremp

Ainsa / Zona Zero

Ainsa is home to Zona Zero, a natural trail center, sitting in the southern foothills of the Pyrenees, and is regularly touted as one of the best areas in Spain for mountain biking. The climate is very dry with over 300 sunny days a year. Typically we would expect to start the day with a jacket and by 10:00am be riding in short sleeves. The mountain biking in Zona Zero is fantastic with long, flowing singletrack descents with plenty of variety. BasqueMTB have been involved with Zona Zero since it´s start and are official guides for the area. We use our vans to link up the best trails, and usually some local secrets, letting you see the best of the area during your weeks holiday.

Tremp and La Pobla

Just a couple of valleys over from Ainsa, in Cataluña, there is another mountain biking paradise called Tremp. Here the trails are very different from Ainsa, with lots of hand built flow trails and vast slabs of rock which give a unique character. The climate is similar to Ainsa, making it a perfect destination for early Spring and late Autumn, when the trails are running perfectly and the temperatures are warm but not too hot. Tremp mountain biking means lots of shuttle accessed descents, making it a perfect place to get some serious vertical.

Level

Tell Me About The Mountain Biking!

Having groups with similar levels is key to our mountain bike holidays and something we spend a lot of time sorting before you arrive.

Each week we aim to run two groups with a guide, driver, van and trailer each to allow people to choose the group which best suits their level.

Ride With Groups At Your Level

We rate our holidays for fitness and skill levels and, to find out more about how we do this and an overview of the grades we use, check out our mountain bike holiday skills and fitness guide.

Skill Level

The terrain on our Ainsa vs Tremp mountain bike tour is suited for high intermediate to expert. The terrain on this holiday will generally be rough with plenty of rocks and long, technical descents. We will also be riding many trails from the Enduro World Series.

Fitness

A moderate level of fitness is required. The climbs aren’t too long on this trip. This trip is much less physically demanding than our Ainsa Enduro trip

Riding plenty of techincal EWS trails, with unlimited shuttle assist. The riding is challenging and fun, in equal parts.

FAQ´s

Here are some of the questions we are regularly asked about our mountain bike holidays. If you have any questions we are delighted to answer them, just get in touch.

“Why Choose These Dates To Run These Trips?

There are a few reasons. We try and choose the right time for each trip: the Basque Coast when the summer heat comes, The High Pyrenees in Autumn before the snow comes and the Backcountry Pyrenees in Spring when the temperatures are nice. The trails in Ainsa stay dry and it´s generally sunny with cold nights and mild days. We think that this is perfect biking weather and we think that there are many people it would appeal to. These trails are way too hot in summer but at this time of year they are generally in perfect condition and the snow capped Pyrenees mountains offer the perfect backdrop to your mountain bike holiday!

Do you have an itinerary for your Tremp vs Ainsa Mountain Bike Holidays?

We don’t have set itineraries for any of our mountain bike holidays, we believe that the trails should be matched to the guests. We know weeks and weeks worth of riding in these areas and each day we will be selecting trails to match what you are looking for. Here is an indication of how these trips have worked in the past though.

I don’t want to do a week’s mountain bike holiday, can I do a shorter break?

Unfortunately we can’t offer shorter tours unless you organise your own transfers.

What are the group sizes on a typical mountain bike holiday?

Our Super Tremp mountain bike holidays run with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 12. Up to 6 guests we would operate with one van and trailer and either one or two guides depending on the make up of the group. There would always be the option of adding another guide if we needed to split the group up. With 7 or more guests we would run with two vans, two drivers and two guides.

My partner doesn’t mountain bike but would like to join our holiday, is this possible?

This is a focused mountain bike holiday however it can work for non-riders if they like to walk and explore the amazing areas we ride in.

What is the weather like in that part of Spain?

The weather in the Spanish Pyrenees allows year round mountain biking. In winter the days are generally cold, however the skies are generally clear and this is a very dry part of Spain with around 330 days of sunshine a year. You should expect temperatures around freezing over night with temperatures rising to around 15ºC during the day. Typically days start with a warm top on and by ten or eleven in the morning we are riding in short sleeves.

What bike / tyres / brake pads do you recommend for this part of Spain?

To try and make this subject a bit interactive we have a facebook page dedicated to this. Please have a look here, (and we always appreciate people liking our page!).

Our Super Tremp mountain bike holiday is a a twin center trip taking in the best of the Zona Zero (Ainsa) and Tremp areas of the Pyrenees. These two areas are close together but offer a totally different riding experience. Tremp is all hand-built flow where Ainsa is more natural. The combination is enticing and riding three days in each area lets us maximise our shuttles to give the maximum fun.

Riding

In a word, varied! The mixture of Tremp’s flow trails and huge rock slabs, with Ainsa’s naturally rugged riding means that every day is different. We maximise the use of shuttles on this trip, aiming to focus on getting the most descending possible each day.

Area

Voted Spain´s most beautiful village, Ainsa has lots to enjoy besides the biking. While Tremp is not as pretty a village, the surroundings are amazing, with beautiful lakes, rocky walls and the Pyrenees in the background.

Unlimited Shuttles

This trip is all about descending and we maximise the use of shuttles each day. There are some climbs, but just to get to the next descent.

Sunshine

With over 330 sunny days a year, the weather when we run these trips is usually crisp and dry. The trails are perfect at these times of the year, more forgiving than when they have been baked by the summer heat.
