Hondarribia Mountain Bike Holiday: Based on the Coast in Spain
Hondarribia sits in Spain, just outside San Sebastian, where the Spanish Pyrenees mountains meet the Basque coast. This is the base for our mountain bike holidays and, because of the meeting of the Pyrenees, the Basque mountains and the mountain ridges which line the Spanish coast, this part of Spain offers a huge variety of mountain bike trails. This makes it easy to offer holidays to suit all sorts of mountain bikers, from those who want uplift to the top of the mountain, preferring a technical downhill challenge, to the ultra fit who feel uplift is a waste of a good climb! We have mountain bike routes ranging from mellow but interesting all the way to some big mountain biking trails that rival those anywhere in Spain or indeed Europe for difficulty. We love the terrain here and think you will too.
Although in Spain, Hondarribia is one of the best places to experience the vibrant Basque culture. Hondarribia is traditional Basque fishing village with a history stretching back hundreds of years, and visible in the cannonball holes and bullet holes in the walls of the old town. This area of Spain is also one of the best places to eat in Europe and the Spanish nightlife is both traditional and exciting. If you fancy a night away from Hondarribia then it is easy to get to San Sebastian, one of the coolest cities in Europe.
From our base, just outside San Sebastian, we have the option of many different areas to ride in. We can drive around an hour into the interior of Spain, to Pamplona, and bike in a near desert. There are the Pyrenees with their big mountain trails. The ancient Basque forests all around San Sebastian are riddled with ancient singletrack. Of course, we could also ride from our accommodation and bike on the fantastic singletrack along the coast. This is just a small selection of our routes, we have enough singletrack to ensure you could holiday here for a month without doing the same route twice. We believe this is important to ensure you are guided to the trails that best suit you and not just fitted into five rides that have been chosen before you even booked your holiday.
